Our LMUSD Mentor Program connects high school students with caring adult mentors. The mentors are from our local community representing a variety of careers, interests, and life experiences. The mentor will spend quality time with their student mentee at least twice a month. Mentors act as a friend, role-model, cheerleader, listener, and resource. This program greatly benefits our students and has an outstanding success record in helping students feel cared for as they navigate the teenage years and transition into adulthood.
Our mentees are responsible for regular contact with their mentor and for taking an active part in this unique and valuable relationship. As mentees progress through the program, many experience a boost in self-esteem, increased engagement with school, a deeper understanding of themselves and a positive outlook towards the future.
